The current count for U.S. federal spending on the blatantly hard-left “POLITICO” just hit $44.2 million, with discoveries of $11.9 million in spending from U.S. House of Representative’s “super-users” and staff.
POLITICO spending was first exposed by the Elon Musk led DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency) about a week ago as a small part of USAID‘s $40 billion in highly questionable spending. But with the numbers continuing to spike higher, Musk just announced, “The DOGE team is working on canceling those payments now.”
The company was founded in 2007 and is 45% owned and majority controlled by Silicon Valley venture capitalists KKR (Henry Kravis, George R. Roberts, Jerome Kohlberg Jr.) in 2007. It merged in 2017 with Europe’s largest digital publishing house, Axel Springer.
POLITICO is out and proud of its Deep State status calling itself: “the global authority on the intersection of politics, policy, and power. It is the most robust news operation and information service in the world specializing in politics and policy, which informs the most influential audience in the world with insight, edge, and authority.”
CBS factchecker Laura Doan tried to justify the taxpayer political spending by pointing out that POLITICO through its ‘Pro’ and ‘E&E News’ offer super-users paywalled content for exclusive reporting and policy tracking.
Doan tried to justify POLITICO as bipartisan by highlighting that the office of Republican Congresswoman Rep. Lauren Boebert, who accused POLITICO of “grift” on social media Wednesday, paid more than $7,000 the first quarter of 2024 to POLITICO LLC for "publications and reference material.” And even more fair and balanced, Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson “paid over $9,000 and the Republican-led House Committee on Energy and Finance paid over $58,000 to Politico LLC.”
Politico's editor-in-chief John Harris in a letter to staff on Wednesday, argued, "POLITICO has never been a beneficiary of government programs or subsidies — not one cent, ever, in 18 years." Harris also wrote that "the overwhelming majority" of Politico Pro subscriptions come from the private sector.
As a humorous sidebar, Elon Musk just before the POLTICO merger was “Honored with The Axel Springer Award for “Great Visions & the Indomitable Will to Achieve Them:
With his inventive and innovative spirit, Elon Musk has revolutionized several industries, from electric vehicles and batteries to space travel. This year's Axel Springer Award goes to Elon Musk.
The Axel Springer Prize is awarded annually to outstanding individuals who are extremely innovative, create new markets and change old markets, shape culture and value social responsibility. Musk will accept the award on December 1, 2020, at Axel Springer's headquarters in Berlin. The theme of the evening is "An Evening for Elon Musk - Mission to Mars."
