Redding Shooting Incident: Suspect in Custody, Victim Recovering
Redding, CA – On Sunday, April 6, 2025, at approximately 7:45 PM, Redding Police Department officers responded to reports of gunfire at Twin View RV Park, located at 485 Twin View Blvd. Upon arrival, they discovered a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his right arm. Emergency responders transported the victim to a local hospital, where he remains in stable condition.
While initial reports suggested there may have been a second victim, officers did not locate anyone else injured at the scene.
Suspect Identified and Arrested
Authorities quickly identified and arrested 57-year-old Steven King of Redding, a well-known political agitator with a history of confrontations and harassment. King now faces multiple felony charges, including:
Attempted murder
Mayhem
Willful discharge of a firearm in a grossly negligent manner
King remains in custody at the Shasta County Jail, with bail set at $500,000. Police also recovered a 12-gauge shotgun, allegedly used in the shooting.
Motive and Background
According to sources close to the case, the victim had reportedly confronted King over ongoing threats made against him and his family on social media. Witnesses claim that when the victim and another individual approached King’s residence to question him, King responded by opening fire with the shotgun.
King has a documented history of legal issues with the Redding Police Department for similar incidents, including previous harassment allegations and an active restraining order.
Community and Legal Proceedings
Supporters of the victim are calling for anyone who has been threatened or harassed by King to attend his court appearance at the Shasta County Courthouse on Wednesday, April 9, at 1:30 PM.
King is expected to be arraigned in Department 21 or 24. Prosecutors are reportedly considering additional charges and a potential request for King to be held without bail due to the severity of the incident and his history of misconduct.
This case remains under investigation. Authorities urge anyone with further information to contact the Redding Police Department.
Mountain Top has submitted a PRA request through the county asking both the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office and the DA for information on any violations of current restraining orders against King submitted to them and any action that was taken. We will post when we receive answers. We’ve been told multiple complaints of violations have been made over the last year by other victims of King.
