The US Supreme Court ruled on April 12 that individuals, developers and home builders in California may protest impact fees commonly imposed by cities and counties to supposedly pay for new roads, schools, sewers and other public improvements as unconstitutional taxes.

They pulled that crap on my dad in San Luis Obispo County when he purchased a 5 acre piece of property in 1997. Wanted him to plant 3 oak trees when they had over 300 trees ob the lot
We built a small house a year before this decision. We had to decide whether it was a second house , or an ADU. Naming it a second house meant you could build another; of course, the impact fee would be huge. Naming it an ADU, meant you could build no more, but the impact fee would save you lots of money. Too late for us, but a constitutional rule of law for those following us.
